Eve Family Forever: First Cleaning at the Dentist

Sav and I went to the dentist this morning. My Mom is our dental hygienist and had been trying to get me to come in during the past couple weeks when she had openings in her schedule. It finally worked out that she had an opening and my schedule was open so we headed in. Sav was very interested in me having my teeth cleaned but on the way there did not want her teeth cleaned. I wasn't going to push it and told my Mom we would just see what she would do.

Once we got there she was having a ball coloring on the chalkboard and talking to my Mom's co-workers. I got my teeth cleaned first and Sav sat on a stool while my Mom told her everything that was going on. She brought her magnifying glass with her so she could check out my mouth and anything else cool that Grandma was doing. Once she learned that she got a prize after she had her teeth cleaned she was totally for it. I figured she might just sit in the chair for a minute and then be done, but she got the full works. My Mom was able to have her sit in the chair, check her teeth, use a penguin toothbrush to clean her teeth with toothpaste, spit in the sink (pretty sure she swallows every time before she spits but we're working on it), and then she let my Mom floss her teeth. Crazy! Then Dr. O'Dell came in and counted Sav's teeth (10 on top and 10 on bottom - good to go!) and let her wear some princess glasses so the light wouldn't be in her eyes. Then she let my Mom paint some fluoride on her teeth. I was way impressed - I knew my Mom was an awesome hygienist, but she did a great job making Sav comfortable and teaching her about everything she was doing. Sav loved it.

Then as promised she got to pick out a princess toothbrush, got a pink bouncy ball, and got two sticky hands from the toy machine. We then went out to lunch with Grandma to end our fun adventure. What a good morning! Now we both have clean, white smiles for all the pictures we are going to take once her little sister arrives :-)
