Canning Tomatoes

Our garden has begun producing produce in abundance. Candler and Sav went out to pick some tomatoes and they came back with a full basket. We picked up some canning supplies and got to work washing and peeling the skin off. Apparently I don't chop fast enough for Candler so he took over my cutting board and I got to work taking the tomatoes out of the boiling water once they were blanched so we could take their skins off. What did surprise me was that I wasn't able to cut, but Sav was :-) Sav actually was able to peel the skin off the tomatoes and chop them pretty well using her plastic IKEA knife.

Overall we got 6 mason jars of diced tomatoes and I joked with Candler only 5 more years and we'll start to see some savings :-)
