I looked out the window and what did I see...

Not popcorn popping on the apricot tree - no tree! Last Thursday our tree was cut down and today they ground the stump into wood chips. So strange to have it gone, but we can sleep a lot better at night not worrying about the tree falling on the house.

Before - We were just going to have it trimmed, but it was pruned poorly before and the tree went into shock and got infected (in non-tree terms). So we had to get it cut down.

These were the bad prune spots - see how the ring around the stump doesn't connect all the way = bad.

Hanging over the house

Hanging over our fence into our neighbor's yard

During the cutting down:

So glad we hired professionals

Just a stump

Look at all that firewood

We haven't counted the rings but it was one old tree

 Grinding the stump:
Huge machine with what looked like gigantic circular saw blades spinning into the ground

The pile of wood chips - huge pile

We planted two apple trees over the weekend - a granny smith and a honey crisp. Hopefully they will grow good and we'll be able to have some homemade apple sauce this fall.
