Christmas morning was very fun this year. Sav still slept until about 7:30am (normal) and requested milk and cheerios and watching TV in Mommy and Daddy's bed. We let her come snuggle for a little bit before asking her if she wanted to go wake up Grandma and Grandpa. Then she remembered that today was going to be special. Candler took her down to wake them up and then she snuggled into the couch with them. Around 8:30 we asked her if she wanted to go open presents - Yes! So we headed up to the tree where her presents from Mommy and Daddy were waiting for her.
She started opening her stocking first where she found some princess necklaces and and magnetic Ariel dress up (thanks Erin! We love hand me downs from friends!) and some penguin antibacterial hand gel. Then she went for the big box which was a doll house that she claimed was from Santa. We didn't play Santa up or down this year, just let her ask questions as we read books and then let her imagination go. She wasn't overly concerned about logistics or details this year, just put things on her Christmas list.
While Daddy got to work on putting together the doll house (yes we have entered that phase of parenthood) Sav continued on with the presents. The next favorite was her doctor tools which she had been wanting for a while. She also got the books Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and The Jungle Book, a Princess backpack loaded with Dora and Diego dolls and a Disney Princess book (another thanks to Erin for sharing her girl's hand me downs). Candler got her a kids terrarium so they could grow some flowers together as well. She was sooo excited to play with her toys. A present from Aunt Shawn that had a pink sucker on it was another big favorite.
Then we headed to the kitchen to make some Christmas breakfast. Candler made biscuits and gravy (my holiday favorite) and Margie made some delicious french toast with berry topping. Tyler, Amelia, and Olivia came over for a bit and we had some good family time. Sav busted out her doctor tools with Grandma and suddenly all of her animals were sick. So she and Grandma took good care of them and helped them get better.
Then Sav and Candler got to work on setting up the terrarium. A little more time playing with Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Tyler and Aunt Amelia before everyone headed home. Time for a little lunch and a rest for both Sav and Mom and Dad.
