GS Troop Reunion

Growing up I was the mascot for my sister's girl scout troop. Since Emily is three years older she joined GS before I was old enough to join my own troop. They were kind enough to let me become the mascot and 20+ years later they are still inviting me along. They had their troop reunion and Sav and I went along to relive some GS traditions and visit with old friends. It turned out to be a rather crazy weekend. Friday night some terrible storms came through town and more than half the city was without power. Candler borrowed his brother's generator to keep our fridge cold, but Saturday became a day of preparations for not knowing when our power would come back on.

(Side note - we ended up only being out of power from Fri-Sunday at 5pm which was already an incontinent with 90-100 degree temperatures and a toddler. If we didn't have Sav it wouldn't have been such a challenge, but luckily we spent most of Saturday at my parent's house and Sunday at the Hatch house. Thank heavens for friends and family!)

My sister and her husband came into town for the reunion and we got to play with them on Saturday. Nate spent most of the day running around with Candler checking on the house, but they did find time to head out to the Air Force Museum for a couple hours. Sav loved playing at Grandma and Grandpa's house. She got lots of books read to her by Uncle Nate and Aunt Emily, cooked with Grandma, and feel in love with Aunt Em's iPad and the kids apps she downloaded.

We then headed over to the reunion at my Mom's co-leader's house. Her power was out, but being the scouts we are it couldn't stop the party. We chatted, grilled burgers, made a craft, and then ate smores. Due to the storms and dealing with the power outage not as many scouts were able to make it from their 15+ member troop, but there will always be more reunions :-) It was hot and we know I don't handle heat well, but overall great times!

Emily went on a trip to Vegas and brought Sav a cupcake smelling t-shirt from Sugar Factory. Super cute! I was given a cute pink shirt as well :-)
